New places on the islands 2026

Every year, dozens of new places surprise both locals and visitors of the islands. To make discovering them easier, we’ve gathered them all neatly in one place.

The islands are always a good idea. Whether you’ve found your way here for the first time or the hundredth, whether you’ve lived here all your life or have only recently started to feel like a local. And it’s the lifelong islanders and the hundred-time visitors who are especially happy when the islands surprise them with something new. Luckily, we’ve got plenty of news to share.

New adventures and attractions

Floating bird hide

A floating hide is a one-person hide tent that floats, allowing you to photograph birds right at water level. The best time to shoot is at sunrise or sunset, and moving quietly helps gain the birds’ trust - the less noticeable you are, the more naturally they will behave.

Black Grouse Hide

Black grouse hide sessions can be done in a weatherproof, two-person plastic dome with multiple photo shooting openings. The best time to capture the black grouse lek is from late March to mid-April, when the birds’ display activity is at its peak.
