Every year, dozens of new places surprise both locals and visitors of the islands. To make exploring easier, we've gathered them all in one convenient spot.

The islands are always a good idea. Whether it’s your first visit or your hundred and first, whether you’ve lived here all your life or have only just blended in among the locals — the lifelong islanders and frequent visitors alike are especially delighted when the island realm surprises them with something new. Luckily, there’s no shortage of fresh news around here.

New adventures and attractions

Ground Floor of the Saaremaa Museum

The first floor of Kuressaare Castle has undergone a makeover, offering plenty of discoveries for visitors. For example, in the lion’s pit, you can now not only hear the roar but also see the animal itself roaming around. There’s even a chance to sit in a giant cauldron, with a “live” fire crackling beneath your feet.

Kuressaare Great Bridge

In Kuressaare, you’ll find one of the longest stone bridges in Estonia, built in 1820. Over the years, the bridge has undergone several renovations, and today the structure crossing the Põduste River boasts a refreshed look and beautiful lighting. Be sure to visit it after dark as well, to enjoy the colorful lights that create a delightful light show.

The Snail Dragon Labyrinth

A magical stone labyrinth – the Snail Dragon – has appeared near the Sõrve Lighthouse. In the past, sailors, merchants, and other travelers performed rituals in such labyrinths to ensure success on their journeys. Walking the labyrinth was believed to protect one from getting lost, going missing, or encountering other misfortunes.

Muhu Design Hub

The former Muhu parish house has become home to the Muhu Creative Collective. The hardworking artisans in Muhu decided to gather under one roof, and thus the Creative Collective was born. Beautiful knitted items, jewelry, and even jackets – all of these can be seen, touched, and ordered right there.

Saare Park

Life has been breathed into the Liiküla Border Guard Station, where visitors can explore the Border Guard Museum. In Saare Park, there is also a tall observation tower offering an exclusive and likely the best possible view from Saaremaa to Hiiumaa. For an adrenaline rush, don't miss the unique bomb shelter experience attraction.

Orissaare Rally Park

Orissaare Rally Park, as the name suggests, is a rally-themed permanent exhibition. The exhibit features several super rare car models as well as equipment belonging to the world's top rally drivers. The shelves are adorned with numerous trophies. In addition, you can also see items involved in accidents and much more.

Saare Surf

The Nasva River, located in an old fishing village, is the largest river in Saaremaa and is perfect for enjoying water activities. Starting this summer, it is possible to rent SUP boards from the riverbank and head either towards the sea or Mullutu Bay. The calm flow of the river is occasionally disturbed only by passing fishing boats.

SaareSeiklus

Great news for anyone whose heart races at the word "adrenaline." Enduro tours are perfect for those seeking an adrenaline-filled adventure. The ride takes you through various forest trails and offers plenty of variety. If you have the skills, you can also rent the bikes and head out on your own.

Torgu Jet Rent

Whether you want to conquer the waves or simply enjoy a sunset on the sea, Torgu jet rental offers all of that! Additionally, if the opportunity arises, you can take a ride to see the wreck of the Volare, also known as the "Greek ship" by locals, which ran aground in 1980. It’s located just a 5-minute jet ride from Rahuste Harbor!

Sailboat Delphine

Starting in May, Kuressaare harbor will be home to a beautiful sailboat named Delphine. This nearly 12-meter-long sailboat with three cabins is equipped with all the comforts needed to enjoy a pleasant sea trip, whether it's around Kuressaare Bay, to the small islands, or even to Pärnu or Gotland.

Canoe trips in Saaremaa

Canoe trips in Saaremaa are suitable for almost everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. The largest rivers in Saaremaa have calm flows, and the bays are shallow, making them perfect for both a sporty pace or a relaxing nature experience. You can choose the location, duration, and additional services for your trip.

Sophia Sailing

Sophia Sailing is a luxurious offshore yacht that can accommodate up to 12 people on board. Sea trips can be taken to nearby islands, Gotland, or the Latvian coast. If there’s a desire to sail even further, with a bit of persuasion, it's likely that can be arranged as well.

Saare Golf Studio

Saare Golf Studio is a self-service golf simulator in Kuressaare. Starting from the second time, the simulator can be used completely independently. The golf simulators offer realistic playing conditions and allow you to refine your skills as if you were on a natural course.

Old Games Hall Jospel

This summer, you can find a branch of the Archebaldi Medieval Experience Center in the courtyard of Kuressaare Castle, where the Old Games Hall Jospel will open. There, visitors can play strategy and skill games from both ancient times and the Middle Ages. You can also challenge yourself with pub and market games.

A little outside of Kuressaare, in Pihtla, the café-guesthouse Nögese hosts a permanent exhibition featuring steam engines, life from a century ago, and steampunk! Those who enjoy crafting and have fast fingers can take part in a fun steampunk workshop.

SörweSpa

Sörwespa is a retreat located at the beginning of the Sõrve Peninsula, in Läätsa, and it’s filled from end to end with a sense of well-being. Wio Burger in Kuressaare

Anyone who has driven from Kuressaare toward Sõrve has probably noticed the charming WIO burger kiosk along the way. But now, you no longer have to leave Kuressaare to enjoy their delicious burgers — Wio Burger Café has opened its doors right in the heart of the city, at Raekoja 10.

Söstar

In early summer, a new eatery/bar opened its doors in the center of Kuressaare. Just like there are many kinds of currants ("sõstar" in Estonian), the menu of this colorful new spot promises variety — from hearty meals to quick bites. The common theme is fast slow-food, and Söstar's atmosphere is infused with the bohemian vibes of Tallinn’s Kalamaja district.

Loorber Cafe&Bar

In the heart of Kuressaare, a new café has opened its doors, where flavors from around the world take center stage. Among these international flavors, the menu naturally features local ingredients as well. The café surprises every morning with a new selection of sweet treats — from pastries and muffins to cakes on display at the counter.

Gunpowder Cellar Room

In the heart of the medieval Kuressaare Castle lies a charming medieval treasure, the mystical Gunpowder Cellar Room, dating back to 1672. Here, you can enjoy cuisine inspired by the medieval kitchen — from hearty stews to exquisite soups. Local craft beers, herbal liqueurs, and spirits are also featured.

Kardemon Coffee Bar

Kardemon Coffee Bar is a boutique-style café, where you'll find stylish decor pieces scattered throughout the space. The best part is that if something catches your eye, you can even buy it! The café offers fresh warm pastries, cakes, and tarts every morning. Coffee is taken seriously here, and leaving without a good cup is almost a sin!

Von Tröll

A new, trendy, stationary food truck called Von Tröll has set up shop at the Kuressaare market. In addition to tempting burgers, they also offer loaded fries and snacks! To make the most of your food wait time, it's a great opportunity to take a stroll around the Kuressaare market and why not pick up some local products while you're at it.

Luciano´s

In Kuressaare, at the Auriga Center, a new fast-food spot called Luciano's caters to all lovers of Italian cuisine. In Italy, a festive meal often begins with delicious antipasti — a quick, elegant, and always wonderful choice. On the menu, you'll also find Italian classics like pasta and panini. Sweet tooths won’t be left hungry either. All of this can be enjoyed at Luciano's.

SörweKöök

In Läätsa village, SörweSpa has opened a brand new eatery called Sörweköök. It’s like a boat hidden between junipers and pines, telling the story of the island’s nature and heritage, while also referencing the Salme ships found nearby. Sörweköök offers authentic island cuisine that blends local traditions with modern culinary techniques.

Odrakoda

At the Odrakoda in Asva Viking Village, guests are taken on true flavor journeys, offering Viking-inspired dishes made from local ingredients. Since the oldest grain in Estonia — barley — was found right there in Asva, and was a staple food for the Vikings, barley holds a prominent place on the Odrakoda menu.

Kliff Restaurant

Kliff Restaurant is a small and cozy spot on Panga Cliff, offering a picturesque view of the sea. The restaurant has two terraces: one by the sea to enjoy the beautiful summer weather, and a sheltered courtyard terrace to shield you from the sea breeze. The menu is diverse, offering both light summer bites and heartier main courses. The flavors are clean and fresh, with a strong emphasis on quality ingredients.

Kahverjan

Kahverjan is a charming café located in Liiva, Muhu. "Kahverjan" is a word from the Muhu dialect, and you can ask the café owners for its meaning. For those curious, the café is situated in the heart of Liiva village, where you can enjoy delicious homemade dishes and mouthwatering cakes, each one more delicious than the last.

Kala Resto&Bar

On June 1st, Kala Resto & Bar opened its doors in the Lõunaranna harbor in Muhu. The restaurant offers dishes made from fresh fish, summer-inspired and flavorful salads, and the menu also includes meat dishes. Alongside the delicious flavors, guests can enjoy beautiful sea views and take some time to relax, Muhu style.

RIBE Summer Restaurant

Ribe Summer Restaurant in Muhu is a true gem on the island. Ribe is already a well-known name in the Estonian food scene — they had a restaurant in Tallinn’s Old Town for years, and for the past few years, they've been offering high-quality catering services. This summer, they’ve opened a summer restaurant on the magical island of Muhu for six weeks.

Sushimon

In Liiva, Muhu island, a café named Sushimon has opened its doors, offering Japanese cuisine. Head chef Maria has been working in the sushi industry since 2007 and has extensive experience with Japanese food. The menu features not only sushi, but also other exciting Japanese dishes, and it’s also possible to book cooking classes.

ToRe cafe

At the edge of the golden sands of Mändjala Beach, nestled in the shade of pine trees, you'll find the Mändjala Camping Beach Café. The café is intended for both camping guests and any other vacationers who have made their way to Mändjala Beach. The beach café offers homemade flavors and stunning views.

Pilliroogfood

In the beautiful Atla Harbor, a food truck named Pilliroogfood has set up shop. Here, you can enjoy burgers, fries, and shrimp, and satisfy your sweet tooth with a refreshing ice cream milkshake. The view is captivating, making it the perfect companion to a delicious meal. On a clear day, a summer sunset in Saaremaa is guaranteed.

New accommodations

Lõunaranna Harbor Accommodation

In Lõunaranna Harbor, Muhu island, a cozy accommodation for up to 24 people has been set up. In addition to the lovely seaside location, you can also rent fishing boats on-site and embark on a sea trip. For meals, Kala Resto & Bar is located right at the harbor.

Bottengarn Farm

Bottengarn Farm is located in Igaküla, a few kilometers from Koguva in Muhu. Visitors can choose from three different houses. The main house offers 5 suites for guests. For families and smaller groups, there are barns available — one with 3 bedrooms and the other with 2 bedrooms.

Kliff Boutique

Kliff Boutique is located right before Panga Cliff, directly by the sea. Here, you’ll find unique and distinctive accommodation, where every room and piece of furniture has its own character, design, and story to tell. The accommodation offers 43 sleeping places, and you can stay in the main house, family houses, or campsites.

Uuelu Tourism Farm

In June, Uuelu Tourism Farm in Kõrkvere will open its doors to vacationers. Uuelu is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and recharge your batteries. To make the most of your stay, there’s also a sauna, grill, and terrace on-site. Since it’s a tourism farm on an island, you can naturally enjoy delicious smoked fish, specially prepared at Uuelu.

Abruka Boutique Spa Clamping

This summer, you can spend a night in a sea-view glamping tent at Abruka Boutique Spa. In addition, they offer local dishes made from fresh ingredients. For a truly memorable visit, you can also book a private concert with a saxophonist. What are you waiting for? Head towards Abruka!

On the Sõrve Peninsula, in the Kingdom of Torgu, you’ll find Torgu Palace, where you can enjoy staying in a glass house. Bottengarn, which has been operating in Muhu for several years, will open its doors in Kuressaare this summer. Bottengarn Kuressaare will be a private and personalized year-round complex with architecture typical of a resort town. The accommodation offers a beautiful view of one of the town's symbols, Kuressaare Castle.
